NEWS: WFNX in Boston – Acoustic Performance

April 1, 2010

Boston radio station WFNX will invite twenty listeners and their guests to Ames hotel for a stripped-down performance by the Airborne Toxic Event. The band’s set will be the latest in a series of invite-only Ames Acoustic Sessions presented by the station and the new hotel in downtown Boston.

Fans must win their way into the session by listening to WFNX. The station will record the Ames Acoustic Session and broadcast it on-air and at www.wfnx.com on Monday, April 12th at 11:00 pm, during its new music feature “The Nightly News.” WFNX and Ames plan to release a compact disc of songs from the sessions in late 2010.

In the 90’s WFNX and other stations held shows like this at Fort Apache. I saw Pete Yorn there once, but bigger acts like David Bowie and Anthony Kiedis performed shows too. That studio is now called The Bridge Sound and Stage. They hosted Amanda Palmer last year with over 200 guests and it was very successful. Maybe FNX could bring that tradition back? I know that The Bridge would do it again. Also, The Bridge is is a recording studio so the CDs would be great.
