“All I Ever Wanted” – The Bombastic (Week 3)

“The Bombastic” is a weekly series of one-shot, one-take acoustic performances by the Airborne Toxic Event. It will feature every song from the band’s new album “All At Once” (available April 26).

Week 3, “All I Ever Wanted,” features the Calder Quartet and was filmed at the Colburn School Conservatory of Music in downtown Los Angeles.

Directed by Jon Danovic.

    No offense, guys, I think you’re amazing, but I wonder why you’ve changed this song a bit since the homecoming show in the Disney Concert Hall. I think that performance was much more powerful than this Bombastic take. I love them both, of course, but I’m hoping the record will contain a version more like the one from the L.A. concert when it’s released.

    I disagree with you Tim. This version is much more frantic which I think captures the feeling of this character who is desparately trying to “make things right” with his wife but knows it’s probably too late. Mikel tells a story with each of his songs and this is a very sad and intense story that will most likely have a bad ending. I love it.

    Does anybody know if they’ll be releasing an MP3 version of this? I love this string version much more than the one on the album.
