Tour Reschedules to 2021, Live Stream Concert Friday May 22
Good morning everyone,
We are exactly one week away from the release of Hollywood Park. The record is an attempt to capture the stories which have shaped a life into song. You could probably say it’s in conversation with the past as it looks to the future or something, but the truth of it is we really tried to put everything we love about music into this record, to let it be like an artifact of ideas and feelings and stories that exists in the world.
If you’d like to be among the first to hear it, you can pre-save the record by clicking SPOTIFY, APPLE, AMAZON, PANDORA
We are also heavy-hearted today as we are announcing the rescheduling of our summer tour because of the COVID-19 crisis. We worked hard to make sure every venue would honor every ticket and every show would take place next spring. Live shows are celebrations of life and you simply can’t do that by threatening that life in a public health crisis. More details below.
As a gift to you, we are thrilled to announce that we will be streaming A LIVE CONCERT a week from today, on the day of record release, Friday May 22nd, broadcasting LIVE from the legendary EastWest Studios, where we recorded Hollywood Park. We will be playing old songs and new and doing our best to connect in the midst of this historical moment. More details (and a video from the band) below.
Finally, Mikel will be doing an Instagram Live session today at 3:15 pm Pacific Time with the very talented Finneas O’Connell. The two will be trading off songs and discussing books, songwriting, quarantine and more. You can tune in on the Airborne Instagram (@theairbornetoxicevent).
Stay safe. Stay close. We’re almost there.
-Mikel, Daren, Steven, Adrian
LIVE CONCERT STREAM FRIDAY MAY 22
To celebrate our release date of Hollywood Park, we will be streaming a full live concert Friday, May 22 at 7pm Pacific Time from the legendary East West Studio One in Los Angeles where we recorded Hollywood Park. The concert will be streaming on our YOUTUBE and FACEBOOK pages.
The East West studios is the legendary birth place of Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys, Thriller by Michael Jackson, U2’s Rattle and Hum, countless recordings by Blondie, REM, Metallica, Elvis Costello, Natalie Cole, Tom Petty, Iggy Pop, New Order and others. There’s a magic in that place, which is why we chose to record Hollywood Park there. It was famously the location of Elvis Presley’s 1968 come back special and Frank Sinata’s “My Way” and “New York, New York.” It’s also the size of a basketball court and thus allows for proper social distancing. We are taking every precaution. All the band members and crew working on the concert will be getting tested for COVID before the event, wearing masks and keeping a safe distance to ensure the event is handled responsibly. We can’t wait.
