Heartbroken to Cancel New Zealand & Australia

September 1, 2009

Good morning,

First of all, thank you for the e-mails and letters expressing your concern for Mikel. He’s OK. A mild case of bronchitis was threatening to turn into a full-blown case of pneumonia and the doctors said he couldn’t fly to New Zealand.

We are heartbroken to cancel this tour. We’ve heard such amazing things about Australia and New Zealand. Of course we hope to return soon.

We’ve played about 200 shows in the past year and have about 50 more before Christmas. We plan to play every one of them.

Mikel is recuperating in London and should be fine within a week or so. We will not cancel any future tour dates.

To everyone who bought tickets to the Australia and New Zealand shows, we promise to return and are so saddened we can’t meet you this time around.

To everyone who has sent us e-mails, thank you for caring.

We miss you, we love you,

the Airborne Toxic Event

Handed my ticket back today for a refund (for the NZ show), gutting as I had been telling all my mates about you guys since I stumbled upon your album at the end of last year, and we had a good crew lined up to come see you.

Be great if you could make it back down here (come in Feb and take an extra week to get around the country – the weather is great and you will have a blast). I can even organise a trip to possibly the best piece of paradise in NZ for you, as you may need a rest after your 250 odd shows!

    Keep us updated,
    Mark

    TATE,

Get better soon and come Down Under, I know you guys are going to be a big hit. Actually heard one of your songs in the background of a show the other day here in Melbourne and it bought back memories of when I discovered your music in LA over a year ago.

    When is the next album?
Just about know this one word perfect!

Better not get sick before you come to Portland, Mikel! Heal up, drink some orange juice or something, haha…

Rub some dirt on it! That will make it go away. Get well soon. I want to see “You guys and gal.” in Seattle, at the Showbox. BTW, New Zealand is awsome this time of the year, especially down in Christchurch. I am not poetic to describe it well enough to do the place justice. Just to say the people are great and the country/city is beautiful.

    Cheers!
